DIY Kids Craft - Sea Shell Necklace Pendant

Let the girls loose at the beach with some markers, string, beads & bling so they can wear their summer seaside memories around their necks as pendants all year round! Here's how we made these beautiful  summer-time treasures using simple sea shells.......

You'll need:
Sea Shells
Adults only - Drill
Markers
Elastic String or ribbon
Glitter Spray
Optional - Beads and bling (feathers, shiny confetti pieces and glitter)
Glue

1. Clean the sea shells and look for any hole in it which you can use to thread the necklace through (or a thin area suitable to drill through).

2. If needed: ask an adult to drill one or two holes in the sea shell  (kids should stay well away from this part and adult drill user should wear protective goggles!)

3. Get Craftea! Decorate with some markers or paints.  Permanent markers work great as they wont run when wet, but if you want to use washable markers you could give it a coat of non-toxic varnish or non-toxic PVA glue/ modge-podge to set the marker.

4. In an outdoor/well ventilated area give your design a quick spray of glitter (or use PVA glue + glitter sprinkles)  to add some sparkle and shine to make the colors pop.

5. Glue on any other fun craft pieces like beads or shiny confetti you can find to complete your pendant.

6. Thread the ribbon or elastic thread through the holes to wear. You can use 2 pieces and tie them behind your neck or just the one piece knotted discreetly .

Please note: Always remember to be sure to use elasticated ribbon or thread with kids jewelry to avoid it being a choking hazard.
